FIFA World Cup ™ goes once-green Fifa.com

 

FIFA announced today the extension of the agreement of FIFA World Cup ™ sponsorship with the leading solar, Yingli Green Energy. The company, which was initially signed as a sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup ™ in South Africa chose to build on the success of the relationship with FIFA, for the next edition of the event, which will be held Brazil in 2014.


The agreement was confirmed today in a signing ceremony in Munich during the 2011 Intersolar trade fair, which was attended by FIFA Marketing Director Thierry Weil and Mr Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy.


In January 2010, Yingli became the first Chinese company ever and the first renewable energy company ever to join as a sponsor of the FIFA World Cup ™. In addition to receiving extensive rights of global marketing for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup ™, Yingli Green Energy will also be involved with CSR program as a supporter of the FIFA football for hope initiative.
