International Soccer Match Tournament Coming to Dallas Cotton Bowl in February ... - Sacramento Bee

The International Soccer Tournament will feature world class football teams from Argentina, Hungary and Mexico to play a championship match at the famed Dallas venue. Event Promoter Pius Oleh, President of AmeriSoccer USA, LLC has been working with the international teams and the Cotton Bowl operators for more than one year to plan this match to bring professional soccer to Dallas. Soccer is fast becoming one of the most popular sports in the United States and is the most widely watched spectator sport in the world.

This International Soccer Tournament will feature four international teams to compete in Dallas. The soccer teams are: River Plate of Argentina; UNAM Pumas of Mexico; Ferencvarosi FC and Vasas FC of Hungary. The teams will fly to Dallas from a similar match competition held in Detroit before returning to their home countries.

The tournament schedule begins with the teams arriving on February 7 and playing warm-up and practice games at the Cotton Bowl on February 8. The official game schedule is Thursday, February 9, 2012, Game 1, River Plate FC, Argentina vs. Vasas FC Hungary at 6 p.m. Game 2, UNAM Pumas FC, Mexico vs. Ferencvarosi FC Hungary at 8 p.m. Saturday evening a championship match will follow a consolation match to be held at 6 p.m. with Invitational Tournament Championship game at 8 p.m.

Some 40,000 soccer fans from Metro Dallas and surrounding areas are expected to attend. Tickets for each day of the match are $30 general admission. A two-day ticket is also available for $50. MATCH names World Cup hospitality sales agents for key global markets - insideworldfootball (blog)

 FIFA's exclusive hospitality programme rights holder MATCH Hospitality has appointed Jet Set Sports as the exclusive sales agent for Norway, Sweden, Russia and Australia for hospitality packages at the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup, both being held in Brazil.

Jet Set Sports will have exclusive rights to sell hospitality packages inclusive of tickets, and will serve as a sub agent of SportsMark, promoting and selling the packages in the USA.

WKU soccer team in Sun Belt title match - Bowling Green Daily News

After 110 minutes of scoreless play, the Western Kentucky soccer team defeated North Texas 4-3 on penalty kicks to advance to Saturday’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship game in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Senior goalkeeper Libby Stout made six saves in the game, including two saves in the shootout to send the Lady Toppers (13-6-2) to their second Sun Belt Tournament final in four years.

WKU controlled possession in the first overtime, keeping North Texas from taking a shot. Lindsay Williams had the lone shot of the period, but sent the ball over the goal and the game into a second overtime.

The Lady Toppers came close to the game winner in the second overtime, but shots by Courtney Rymer and Ali Stahlke were stopped by Jackie Kerestine in the 103rd minute. North Texas had one shot in the second overtime.

A header by Michelle Young went wide of the goal in the 108th minute, leading to a deciding penalty kick shootout for a spot in the championship game.

Stahlke, Williams, Kiersten Ottaway and Chrissy Tchoula all scored for WKU in penalty kicks, and Stout stopped the Mean Green’s final attempt to send the Lady Toppers to Saturday’s title match.

This is the third straight year that WKU has gone to penalty kicks in the Sun Belt Tournament and the first time the Lady Toppers have come out on top in the shootout.

WKU will face Florida International in the championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.

The second-seeded Panthers defeated third-seeded Denver 3-1 in Thursday’s first semifinal. FIU and the Lady Toppers played to a scoreless draw at the WKU Soccer Complex on Oct. 7.

Men's Soccer Travels for Big Ten Match Versus Ohio State - GoPSUsports.com

The Penn State men's soccer team will embark on the second leg of its four-game road swing this weekend when it visits Columbus for a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee match with Ohio State (7-5-2, 2-1-0) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Penn State (7-6-2, 0-4-0) dominated pace and possession and utilized lockdown defense to claim their first road win of the season on Wednesday, downing America East frontrunners UMBC, 1-0. Junior forward Hasani Sinclair (Coral Gables, Fla.) scored the game winner, tying for the team lead with his third goal of the season, while junior midfielder Jacob Barron (La Mirada, Calif.) earned his first assist as a Nittany Lion on the play. The Penn State back line nullified the Retriever attack, holding it to as many shots (3) as it scored goals earlier in the season in a game against No. 3 Maryland.

The clash between the Nittany Lions and the Buckeyes will pit the Big Ten's top defensive team against one of the conference's most productive attacking units. Penn State leads the Big Ten in goals allowed (9), goals against average (0.58) and shutouts (9) while Ohio State is ranked No. 2 in goals (22), goals per game (1.57), and points (61).

Ohio State has gone winless in its last two games, falling at home to Northwestern, 3-2, on Oct. 9 and drawing, 0-0, with Valparaiso on the road on Oct. 16. The Buckeyes are 5-2-0 in Columbus in 2011 with two of its victories coming in overtime (Michigan and Bowling Green).

With a Big Ten leading eight goals, junior forward Chris Hegngi fronts the Ohio State attack. Sebastian Rivas (4 goals, 1 assist), Austin McAnena (2 goals, 2 assists), Parnell Hegngi (2 goals, 2 assists), and Omar Vallejo, the team leader in assists with four, have also been offensively productive for the Buckeyes.

The Ohio State defense, which allows an average of 1.29 goals per game, is headlined by senior David Tiemstra, the 2010 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-Big Ten goalkeeper Matt Lampson. In 14 starts, Lampson has amassed a 1.26 goals against average and recorded three shutouts.

Sunday's Penn State-Ohio State match will be the 28th meeting between the teams, with the Nittany Lions leading the series 15-10-2. A year ago, Penn State downed the Buckeyes, 2-1, in an overtime thriller aired live on the Big Ten Network. Treavor Gelsinger made his final regular season game at Jeffrey Field an unforgettable one and sent the alums in attendance for Penn State's 100-year anniversary celebration home with a fond memory of the eventful day, as his golden goal in the 97th minute propelled the Nittany Lions to victory.
