The two national USA teams experienced major Football events during the last week: the men lost in Mexico in the Gold Cup final on Saturday, while the women won their World Cup opener against North Korea on Tuesday.
On a different range that is American football are indicative of two results.
USA men's soccer continues to become increasingly insignificant. USA Major League Soccer (MLS) features players were unable to compete at high levels, and frankly it is painful to watch.
On the other hand, most people are aware of the best players in the global toy business outside the US, but today's great international stars (children like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney) do not come from the United States.
American male soccer players to a large extent internationally, not even US fans still have high expectations.
Hope this is really inappropriate, taking into account the national team has no history of international success, usually measured by the performance of the World Cup.
The United States, an athletic power in most competitions throughout the world, has only one top-four finish men's World Cup history--a third appearance in the tournament in 1930.
Last year in South Africa, national team player, but he survived the group got bounced recipients from weaker Ghana Group in the round of 16.
The disappointing outcome in 2010 FIFA World Cup should not be surprising for a team that consists of career underachievers (i.e. Landon
Donovan and Tim Howard).Still, few could have predicted how it would play a game on Saturday against Mexico.
The US team stumbled during the greater part of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup but seemed to gain some momentum in the final.
The Americans jumped from an early two-goal lead after 23rd minute Saturday, both for the sadness of the mainly pro-a Rose Bowl crowd in Mexico in Pasadena, but unfortunately, the rules stated that must be played all 90 minutes.
The advantage of US quickly disappeared by halftime and, although the match was 2-2 at the start of the second half, Mexicans surged into an easily won 4-2.
While good, creative Mexico ball movement contributed to the victory, the blame for the four unanswered goals really should be with the controversial American midfield defence and even worse goalkeeping.
Wastage during lower-ranked Mexican squad leaves many questions for the Team USA looking 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil (as Howard's will play is bearable? costly is the right coach Bob Bradley who, apart from Donovan and Clint Dempsey, I score goals consistently?).
Because it seems that there are more questions than answers, perhaps it is time for US fans to accept that men of the national team only lacks the skills needed to compete internationally.
On the other hand, women's national team, continues to show it has some of the best talent in the world.
In fact, the American women have always been among the most successful teams. Rankings from football women began in late 2003, the US team had three significant stints at the top (and put into the 2011 FIFA World Cup in Germany ranked No. 1).
The team has demonstrated the ability to produce? USA won the World Cup in 1991 and 1999 and finished third in 1995, 2003 and 2007.
Nevertheless, there were concerns about the US team entering this year's World Cup, mainly because these minimum qualifications. Fortunately, Tuesday's victory helped to allay concern.
After a sluggish first half, Lauren Cheney broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 54th minute and Rachel Buehler added another goal in the 76th minute.
The Americans cruised to a 2-0 victory against North Korea and seems to be on the road to promote the group stage of the past.
If all four group Favorites win their groups (us included), the US should secure a sixth consecutive World Cup semifinals appearance.
But the issue for national team veterans (as goalkeeper hope Solo and forward Abby Wambach) has been received for the World Cup, a goal later recruits (like Cheney and Buehler) may be able to help with.
American sports fans should have high expectations for the next two weeks because the United States women's national team has a real shot to win the World Cup.
Still, the team and fans will be the tournament one step at a time.
The American women faced Colombia this coming Saturday and end up playing against a team Sweden extract high-ranked this coming Wednesday.
Two other games should be fun, and there can be no better way to celebrate the week of independence day by donning the red and blue and cheering on the only successful USA Football team.
