H-F continued to pressure in the first overtime, including some chances by missing just Lewers.
"I feel as though we controlled most of the game, '' Ward said. "But when we made mistakes (Granite City) was able to capitalize."
After the game, many Vikings players were overcome with emotion. Six elderly, a group that includes Lewers and defender Emily Johnson, supersectional heart breaker will be the last high school game play.
Ward "seniors is phenomenal," he said. "They led the team with their hearts and their attempt, the field and off the field. I've known most of them, since they were young children. Are losing their colleagues are going to lose, and the program is going to lose. "
