May 19 – the informant in the center of corruption claims over the 2022 World Cup of Qatar was asked by FIFA to provide evidence against two alleged voting members have each paid $ 1.5 million (£ 917,000) to the new State of the Gulf.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter has revealed today that the informant, understood to have worked for the campaign of Qatar, has been invited to travel to Headquarters to meet Jerome Valcke FIFA Secretary General of the Organization and legal Director Mark Villiger.
Last week, based on a written notice from The Sunday Times newspaper, British MPs argued that African soccer Chief Issa Hayatou and Jacques Anouma of Côte d'Ivoire, both members of the Executive Committee of FIFA, took bribes to vote for offer of Qatar's success.
At the same parliamentary hearing, former English FA and 2018 FIFA World Cup Chairman Lord Triesman claimed that four other members of the Executive Committee called for sweeteners supporting England.
FIFA and the English Football Association have launched separate investigations into claims that involve no less than six of the sancta sanctorum of FIFA and Blatter disclosed today that the investigation of FIFA should include hearing from an anonymous informant.
"We will, and have accepted the newspaper, which bring this whistleblower here in Zurich and have a discussion and investigate this," he said.
Blatter is desperate to save face, to the new allegations to be addressed before the next FIFA Congress on 31 May and, especially, in the presidential elections of 24 hours later.
But still, still insists it has not received any evidence concerning Triesman claims or those on Qatar in addition to disclosures in connection with the select committee recent hearing.
"We are waiting with anxiety and immediately, evidence-or non-evidence-in order to take appropriate measures," said Blatter.
"We see the evidence and then will intervene. We have received statements made in the House of Commons but we have not received any evidence. "
"The whole procedure cannot be done in 11 days, but before we know if the allegations are true or false or unproven.
"If they are not true this case is over."
Blatter warned time was running out for a quick solution.
"It is crucial that the situation was clarified by 27 May," he said.
"Then we'll see which tool will work.
"The Ethics Committee has already alerted and alarmed; they aren't just lying on the beach, members will be for Congress ".
Blatter declined to exclude a 2022 if there were enough evidence to indict Hayatou and Anouma, who strenuously denied the allegations.
FIFA have already suspended two other senior members, Reynald Temarii and Amos Adamu, allegations of corruption during the previous World Cup following a denunciation of the Sunday Times.
Neither was allowed to vote for the 2018 and 2022 and Blatter has not ruled out a vote on a replacement for the tournament, however unlikely.
"This is an idea that has been distributed worldwide," said Blatter.
"Don't ask me Yes or no, that we must go step by step."
