MISHAWAKA-Balance was the name of the game for the Metro boys football team in the League Fifth Fest sports game.
Four players scored for Metro, including two goals by Tim Wilson, en route a 5-1 victory over Michigan.
"I really wanted to win this game," Wilson said. "We had heard (Michigan) was a very good team, so we just made and pushed play."
Wilson served as bookends for the game that took the scoring in the 29th minute with a goal and ended the contest with a tally of the 75th. The pair of goals won the Penn graduate MVP honors.
Michigan knotted the score 1-1 with three minutes left before halftime on a goal by Andrew Boyles
That proved to be an equalizer, spark--but not for Michigan.
"After this, their related College just got ourselves together and came ready to play," said Brandon Stoller.
Stoller led the aggressive attack in the second metro. Scored the game winner in the 44th minute and autonomously continued pushing and playing with the midfield, opened scoring opportunities for his colleagues.
Troy Mcgovern added another unassisted goal four minutes later and Juan Padilla scored in the 59th minute for a nice game after a corner kick.Smoger Jimmy Metro headed the corner in an open air Pantigia who blasted a shot past the diving keeper of Michigan, for a 4-1 lead.
"We talked about are strong and come with some fire and finishing, Stoller said.
Metro Coach Cruz Gallegos, who was the head coach of the year, NIC Riley last fall, I was impressed with his team.
"At this level, these children can play with almost anyone," he said. "These guys are tough. Frankly, I coached for or against anyone, but I really do not understand how good they were. "
Wilson still mulling his options for the fall. He has the chance to play football but was mum about the possible future destinations.
The victory was especially sweet for Stoller, who capped his competitive career with a victory. The grad Adams won't play football when he enrolls at Purdue in the autumn.
"It is a pretty good last hurrah, '' Stoller said.
