27 April-Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko was appointed Chairman of the Organising Committee for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
MUTKO, a member of the Executive Committee of FIFA, was given the job after 2018 World Cup will be a meeting of the Supervisory Council of Russia, headed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and held at the seat of Government of Moscow.
MUTKO said that 80,000-seat Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow Olympic would most likely have hosted the World Cup final and a semi-final, with St Petersburg other seeds.
Indicate also the 2017 Confederation Cup, which traditionally acts as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup, was staged in four cities, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi, which is hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics.
"The World Cup is the most prestigious tournament in the world," said Mutko.
"We are proud that Russia has won the right to host this truly global soccer festival.
"FIFA World Cup will leave a lasting legacy well beyond sports.
"The World Cup will Boost the development of the country's infrastructure, promoting healthy lifestyles among young people and demonstrate a new Russia to the world community."

At the same meeting of the Supervisory Board, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov (pictured), Alexei Sorokin, the public face of the campaign of Russia that 2018 triumphed by a landslide, was approved as the Executive Director of the Organizing Committeethe same role that he held in the Russian offer.
"The first meeting of the Supervisory Board is without doubt a milestone," said Sorokin whose drinkability, charm and tireless commitment to the cause during the campaign earned him widespread respect.
"The key objectives for this year were identified and areas for collaborations with the regions and key Federal Ministries.
"I can say that only a few World Cup organizing committees enjoyed a similar level of federal assistance in the past.
"This is our powerful resource that FIFA greatly appreciates."
